POST OF THE WEEK
What I learned about PR pitching from the reporters I keep spamming
Really insightful piece form Rodney Geodhart on pitching to journalists. It seems “proof” is the most important factor reporters pay attention to, and “lack of credibility” is the primary reason a pitch is turned down. I think even the most experienced PRs could have a read of this to refresh.
CAMPAIGNS
EastEnders' Dot Branning should have died in 2005
I love this campaign by James Watkins on behalf of a life insurance brand. Eastenders celebrated its 35th year this week, so this was a very timely campaign and seems to have done well, using the characters lifestyle habits in their onsite tool.
Campaign edit #20: Valentine’s Day special
20 for the price of 1 here. Sophie Nightingale collected the top 20 Valentine's day campaigns. This year I reckon it was the most competitive Valentine's we've had in terms of PR campaigns, so well done to those who acheived a lot of coverage.

A great piece by Olivia Wiltshire which raises a really important discussion in the industry. She also discusses how smaller more targeted campaigns could actually have a bigger impact on the visibility of a site or page.

The One Where We Chat About How To Create Content for SEO And PR With Jess Peace
Another one that does what it says on the tin. I've recently discovered this podcast and it's great. Thanks Jess Peace and the SEO SAS podcast.
This week's issue is full of great posts, there was so much good stuff going on and too many to choose from, so most of this issue is based on learning and insight.
Our industry is so fantastic for sharing insight and experiences, it makes me so grateful that there are so many people that are open to sharing their industry secrets, but also makes the job of curating this newsletter a lot harder!
Have a great week.
